On September 18th, CIS English students and Spanish II and III students went to Central Lakes College Brainerd to attend Verse Like Water: the visiting poet program. Students were treated to a craft talk and reading session with Juan Felipe Herrera, the 2015-2017 U.S. Poet Laureate. Students also got a free copy of Herrera's newest poetry collection and had the opportunity to get the book signed by the poet! Thanks to CLC, and a special shout out to Jeff Johnson for providing this great opportunity!

At Crosby-Ironton School District, we are committed to providing high-quality education, but face a $1 million deficit going into the 2025-2026 school year. For two decades, the state's contribution to school funding has not kept pace with inflation. This means we receive less per-pupil funding each year to maintain current levels of education, services and support. Without new revenue, we will be forced to make deeper cuts, impacting class sizes, staff, educational programs, student support services and activities. Learn more about the challenges we face and our plan to address them at RangerNationStrongFoundation.org/challenges.

C-I Transportation graciously hosted CRES kindergarten students at the bus garage. Students got to see how the mechanics work under the bus, how they wash the busses, where busses fill up with gas & propane and where the buses park at night. Students watched a bus safety video, learned to look at the driver for their signal to cross, looked both ways for traffic, took a little ride and practiced their emergency exits from the front and the back of the bus. Our thanks and appreciation to Carol, Tim and Josh for having us! C-I students are thankful for each and every one of their bus drivers that give of their time to get us to school safely.
