Last week, 127 campers participated in Camp Invention at CRES! They participated in a wide range of activities. Campers created, personalized, and played their own light-up game board. They learned about bioluminescence, reflection, refraction, and more as they created and experimented with glow boxes. Campers also learned about the Earth and water through the creation of their own water systems for plots of land. Lastly, campers took part in various prototyping challenges to harness their innovative skills and invent new things! We had a great week at camp!

What an absolutely incredible way to finish the 2024 season!!! The Final day of the State A Championships produced 2 STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS, 4 All-State performances and 3 School Records!!!
The Boys 4x400m Relay closed out the season in style by winning the State Championship as Noah Larson, Nate Hachey, Joe Ringhand and Jordan Mount ran 3:22.80 to take the title and ran the fastest time by any Class A team in 10 years. They are the 2nd Ranger Relay team in History to win a State Title 92 years after the first one (1932 4x220y). That time breaks their own School Record, is the 3rd fastest time in all of Minnesota this season and they finish the year undefeated as a group.
Earlier in the day Jordan Mount won the State Championship in the Long Jump with a jump of 23’ 2.25”. He becomes only the 4th Ranger individual to win a State Title (Parker Robinson, Jodi Swenson, Lynn Fraunendienst) and first in 20 years. He had the four longest jumps of the competition and it was the 4th longest jump in all of Minnesota this season. Jordan finishes his Ranger Track career with 6 All-State honors, 4 School Records and 2 State Championships.
Lucy Lewandowski cleared 10’ 6” in the Pole Vault placing her 6th overall. That mark earns her All-State honors, is the highest finish ever for a Pole Vaulter in Ranger Girls History and ties Brooklyn Jones for the School Record. This was Lucy’s 5th appearance at the State Championships (Basketball & Track) and her first All-State honor.
Joe Ringhand placed 8th in the 800m Run with his time of 2:00.53 earning him All-State honors. He becomes the first Ranger boy to earn All-State in 22 years in the 800m. He finishes his Ranger Track career with the 7th fastest 800 & 10th fastest 1600m. Possibly more impressive is that Joe only had 30 minutes to prepare after the 800m for the 4x400m and ran an unbelievable leg to help win the State Title.
What a wonderful group of student-athletes! Congratulations to you all!

📚At the beginning of the year Ms. Meyer told students that her goal for them was to check out 9,000 books this year, but that she would love to someday reach 10,000 books checked out. Ms. Meyer was so happy to find out that students checked out 10,460 books this school year! 📚
Mrs. Jensen’s first grade class checked out over 700 books! They received an award for the classroom who checked out the most books this year. Each student was able to bring home a book and bookmark.
The student who checked out the most books this year was fourth grader, Jacob Rutz. He checked out 72 books, and was also given a book and bookmark. 🙌

Mrs. Harris had two guest speakers for her 11th grade English classes. Students had read the book by Minnesota author Tim O'Brien called "The Things They Carried," which is about the Vietnam War. After completing research, students presented their information to their classmates and wrote an informative essay about what they learned. The culminating event was to listen to two guest speakers, Jeff Workman and Bob Carlson, both from Aitkin. These men both served in the Vietnam War and came and spoke to students about their experiences and answered questions. Thank you Jeff and Bob!
